Reported problems and activity
The server notices some problems by itself, such as a file that disappeared or a title it couldn’t identify. Other problems only a person notices: an episode with no subtitles, or a film with sound out of step. Report a problem gives those people a way to tell you, and gives you a way to reply.
Reporting a problem
Section titled “Reporting a problem”Anyone with the Report a problem permission can file a report. Every account has it through the default Viewer role. You can report a film, a show, an episode or a game:
- On a poster or tile, open its ⋮ menu and choose Report a problem….
- On a film, show, episode or game page, open the ⋮ menu and choose Report a problem….
- In a show’s episode list, hover over the episode and press the lifebuoy button at the end of its row.
To report a whole season, report the show and say which season in the description.
The dialog asks two things.
What went wrong? Pick the closest:
| Choice | For |
|---|---|
| Won’t play | It fails to start, stops part-way, or keeps buffering. |
| Sound | Wrong language, out of step with the picture, or silent. |
| Subtitles | Missing, out of step, or the wrong language. |
| Picture | Blocky, stretched, the wrong way up, or black. |
| Wrong title | It is filed as something it isn’t. |
| Artwork | The poster or box art is missing, or belongs to something else. |
| File missing | It’s on the shelf but the server can’t find the file. |
| Something else | None of the above. |
What happened? Describe it in your own words, up to 2,000 characters. A report needs a description. Something like “Season 2 episode 4 has no subtitles — the other episodes are fine” gives the administrator what they need.
Press Send report.
Following your reports
Section titled “Following your reports”My reports in the sidebar (under the Account tab on a phone) lists everything you have reported and its status. When an administrator replies, a badge appears on My reports and a dot marks the report. Press Read the reply to open the conversation. The badge clears once you have opened it.
You can add more at any time under Add to this report, for example if the problem changes, or to answer a question.
If you later lose access to the library a title is in, the report stays on your list, marked This title is no longer available to you.
Working the queue
Section titled “Working the queue”Administrators see Reported problems in the Server section of the sidebar, with a badge counting reports that are open or in progress. The page has a tab for each status, plus All. It opens on Open.
Each report shows the title, what kind of problem it is, who reported it and the start of their description. From there you can:
- Show conversation — read the whole thread and answer under Answer this report. The person sees your reply on their My reports page.
- Status — set where it stands (see below).
- Open the title — go to the film, show, episode or game.
- Who reported it — open that person’s profile page.
A report can have one of four statuses:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Open | New, not looked at yet. Every report starts here. |
| In progress | You are on it. |
| Resolved | Fixed. |
| Declined | You are not going to change anything. |
Only an administrator can change a status. Replying doesn’t change it, so set it yourself when you’re done. A report that is resolved or declined stays in its tab, and both sides can still reply to it.
Most problems are fixed somewhere else in Credenza:
- Wrong title or Artwork — see fixing matches and editing details.
- Won’t play, Sound or Picture — see how playback works and common problems.
- Subtitles — see subtitles.
- File missing — see scanning.
When you delete an account, that person’s reports are deleted with it.
The Activity page
Section titled “The Activity page”Activity is an administrator’s view of what the server holds and how it is being used. Open it from the Server section of the sidebar, or from the Account tab on a phone.
Watching and playing
Section titled “Watching and playing”Stat cards for Sittings, Completed, Games launched, Hours watched and Finished, a day-by-day Activity chart, and Watched on, which shows the kind of device each session was played on, such as a TV, Android or iOS.
The range picker switches between 7 days (the default), 30 days, 90 days and All time. Not every number follows it, and each card says which kind it is:
- Sittings, Completed, Games launched and the chart count every individual session within the range. They only go back to when the server started keeping that log, so an older server can show lower numbers here than you expect. The page says how far back the log goes.
- Hours watched and Finished are always all time. They count each film or episode once per account, so watching something twice doesn’t add to them.
Most watched and played
Section titled “Most watched and played”Top lists for Films, Shows, Episodes and Games, and Most active accounts. Within a range, they are ranked by sittings. Over all time, they are ranked by hours watched.
Press any title to see who watched or played it, and how much. A show’s list combines all of its episodes. Press a person to see their own top lists. Each panel links to the other, and to the title or account itself.
The collection
Section titled “The collection”What is on the shelves right now: counts of Films, Shows (with episodes), Games, Files, the space they take On disk, their total Runtime, and breakdowns by genre and by decade. The range picker doesn’t affect these.
Needs attention
Section titled “Needs attention”Counts of Unmatched titles, Missing files, Failed scans and libraries Never scanned. If none of these apply, the section says everything is in order.
Right now
Section titled “Right now”Who is Watching now, with what they are playing or have paused, followed by Recently watched and Recently played games.
Activity is for administrators only. A person can see their own watch and game history on their Account page, and an administrator can see anyone’s on that person’s profile page — see accounts and access.
